Release Day: Threefold, Book 1: Colin by Sotia Lazu (MF, NSFW Excerpt, ARC Review)

Threefold, Book 1 – Colin

Erotic contemporary romance, BBW

Length: novella

ASIN: B00U42NDHQ Amazon | Goodreads

Colin Daniels is shallow, and proud of it. He only concerns himself with people who live up to his standards of beauty, and his best friend’s new girlfriend is found lacking. Becca is curvy, loud, and apparently all for public displays of affection. None of that would matter, if Colin didn’t find her sexy despite his better judgment. When Brad asks for a favor, Colin has to choose between giving in to his desires and respecting the very few boundaries he’s set for himself. Never screw your best friend’s girl. Or your best friend. Note: The story is eventually m/f/m (and includes m/m) but this installment is m/f.

Excerpt (NSFW)

“You free for lunch?”

Colin only briefly looked up from his paperwork. “No, I’m not. As I already told you when you called me, fifteen minutes ago.” He wasn’t really that busy, but he had enough on his plate he didn’t feel bad using work as an excuse not to meet up with Brad and Becca.

“Come on, man. You’ve been avoiding me for days. And you have to eat.” Brad rarely took no for an answer. Colin’s inner salesman usually found that admirable, but today it annoyed him.

“I’ve been busy. We can do drinks tonight.” He glanced at his phone. “Have to finish this up, and then I’m showing a couple that two-story in Richmond district at four. Should be done by six, so wanna meet somewhere at eight?” That gave him enough time to come up with an excuse to cancel.

“We didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. At the cinema. We thought you’d be cooler about it.”

Cooler? While Brad got a blowjob right next to him? Colin fought hard to refrain from looking up at Brad. “I don’t know what you mean.” But his heart sped up at the memory.

“I want you to have sex with Becca.”

“What?” The pen fell from Colin’s hand and rolled off his desk. He ducked after it. “I don’t think I heard you right.” He couldn’t have. And he had no idea why he was sporting a semi.

“Come out from under there.”

Colin sat up, pen in hand. “Okay, say again.”

“I want you to have sex with Becca,” Brad said again.

So he had heard right. And he’d been spot on about the reason behind the other night’s exhibition. Relief and anger made his gut roil. “Is this some elaborate scheme to test her loyalty? Or mine? Are you asking me to do it, just to see if I will?” And could Colin please convince himself that he never would?

Brad shook his head. “What’s with the conspiracy theories? You’re not right in the head, you know.”

“And yet I’m not the one asking my best friend to fuck my girlfriend!”

About the Author
Sotia’s making do with Greek reality, while writing and mostly thinking in English. She loves romances with a twist and urban fantasy novels, always with vivid erotic elements. Her favorite characters to write are not conventional hero-material at first glance, and she enjoys making them fight for their happiness. Sotia shares her life and living quarters with her husband, their son, and two rescue dogs, one of which may be part-pony. Sappy movies make her bawl like a baby, and she wishes she could take in all the stray dogs in the world. Also, she hates mornings!

Mari's Review:

*** ARC provided to me by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. ***

Colin has very few boundaries that he isn’t willing to cross. One of them is sleeping with his best friend’s girlfriend, another is messing up his friendship with said friend. When Brad and Becca come to him to join them in a threesome to celebrate Becca’s birthday, they throw him out for a loop.

I loved Colin! At first, I found him likable, but every bit a shallow jerk, but the more I read, the more I fell for him. I felt bad for him and wanted him to find at least a modicum of happiness in his life.

I also love a strong female lead and Becca is that, and more. She’s confident and doesn’t pull any punches. She goes after what she wants and that’s something I can respect. Add to that that she is attractive, funny, flirty and sexy, even if she’s not your usual model-like lead. She’s downright real, curvy and a little overweight, but not less of a woman for that.

Brad is likable and sweet, wanting to please Becca. Although I suspect there’s more to him than just that and I can’t wait to find more about him in the next installments.

The chemistry between the three is undeniable, and I loved seeing Colin trying to do the right thing, even as Brad and Becca kept pushing him, for fear of ruining a friendship and a relationship. I’m pretty sure that’s what made me fall for him.

The story is short, but it sets the mood perfectly for the rest of the series, for which I can’t wait, since I’m dying to read how it will all unfold.
