Blog Tour: Taylor Maid by Tara Lain (Review, Excerpt + Giveaway)

Taylor Maid
by Tara Lain

He'll marry the maid to get $50 million but a secret could queer the deal.

Taylor Fitzgerald needs a last-minute bride.

On the eve of his twenty-fifth birthday, the billionaire’s son discovers that despite being gay, he must marry a woman before midnight or lose a fifty-million-dollar inheritance. So he hightails it to Las Vegas… where he meets the beautiful maid Ally May.

There’s just one rather significant problem: Ally is actually Alessandro Macias, son of a tough Brazilian hotel magnate. But if Ally keeps pretending to be a girl for a little while longer, is there a chance they might discover this marriage is tailor-made?

The sun seeped around the Roman shades on the windows, casting stripes of brightness across the bed.

“Uh, Taylor, it’s about Ally that I called you.”

“Yeah, okay.” He crept forward and peered around the wall toward the bed. Sure enough, Stonewall curled in a ball on one pillow while Ally’s hair flowed across the other, creating a red to orange mosaic. He smiled—then stopped.

“There’s something you should know.”

“Yeah?” His eyes fixated, and he walked two more steps toward the bed. Ally lay on her back, one arm above her head, with the white silk pajamas clinging to her body. Where he was used to seeing small, perky breasts, the silk lay completely flat. So maybe she enhanced a bit. But that wasn’t what held him rapt. It was the part that wasn’t flat. At her crotch, the fabric stood straight up in the air like a tent—a tent with a substantial tent pole.

“Taylor, I don’t know how to say this, so I’m just going to spit it out. Coco says Ally is a man.”

On the day before he turns 25, Taylor discovers that his father has hidden a condition in his grandfather's will that might stop Taylor from getting the 50 million left to him and that he intended to use to build LGBT centers throughout the country. He has to get married that day to a woman and it has to be a love-match. If that alone wasn't a huge problem, Taylor being openly gay might be.

At the advice of his friends, he travels to Las Vegas and hires an escort to meet him there, but when she gets in an accident before getting to Taylor's hotel, Taylor needs to reevaluate his options, which are giving up or asking the enticing maid with the voice of an angel to marry him.

Alessandro Macias, heir to his father's fortune, is hiding to avoid being married to a woman. He's found the perfect disguise as a maid at a posh hotel in Vegas, but his father's henchmen are closing in on him and when Taylor offers him a way out, he has to take it.

Taylor is confused by the feelings Ally ellicits on him, thinking he might be turning straight or at least bi, until his friends realize that Ally is indeed Alessandro and from there they start growing closer as they try to convince Taylor's father that theirs is a love-match and keep Ally away from his father's clutches.

The story itself is a bit predictable, but very entertaining nonetheless. I loved Taylor, and it was fairly original to have the gay main character wondering how could he be attracted to a woman, albeit a very lovely one. And Ally was sweet and courageous, and I loved that he was so supportive of Taylor. And together, they were both sweet and hot, just a perfect combination!

I hated Taylor's father and his lawyer, and while I wasn't too sure about Ally's father, he really made things work for both Taylor and Ally in the end!

The book is enjoyable, well-written and I had too much fun reading it! Very recommendable!
