Megan Erickson & Santino Hassell
By Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell
Release date: February 13
My FallenCon agenda is simple: sit on a couple of panels and let people meet the real me. Jesse Garvy—mod of a famous Twitch channel and, if I ever come out of my shell, future vlogger. I definitely didn’t plan to sleep with a moody tattooed fan-artist, but he’s gorgeous and can’t keep his hands off me. There's a first time for everything, and my first time with a guy turns out to be the hottest experience of my life.
But the next day, I find out my moody fan-artist is Ian Larsen AKA Cherry—someone I've known online for years. And he'd known exactly who I was while shoving me up against that wall. Before I figure out whether to be pissed or flattered, the con ends.
Now we're back online, and he's acting like nothing happened. But despite the distance between us, and the way he clings to the safety of his online persona, we made a real connection that night. I don't plan to let him forget.

Ian hides himself behind his Cerise/Cherry Cakes personas to hide an anxiety that rivals Kai's. He's been crushing on Jesse ever since they met online moderating Kai's channel and meeting him in person and seeing that Jesse is not only as nice and handsome as he'd appeared online but also interested in him, is a great surprise for him. If only he could find the courage to tell him he's not only Cerise, the dark artist or Ian, but also Cherry Cakes his co-mod before Jesse finds out himself.
Jesse's experience at FallenCon brings with it a lot of firsts for him. First time sitting at a panel, first time meeting his co-mod at Kai's Twitch channel and his first time doing anything with a guy. That the last two end up being the same person might be a bit of a problem, though.
Despite his misgivings, Jesse can't stay away from Ian and they start a relationship of sorts online, but Ian isn't willing to let go of his online persona and Jesse is having trouble accepting it.
Hard Wired is book 3 in the Cyberlove series and while technically can be read as a standalone, I suggest reading at least book 1 before, not only because Kai & Garrett rock and remain my favorite couple in this series and it's an amazing read, but they also feature prominently in this book.
I absolutely loved Ian. I wanted to cuddle him and make it better. He was so broken and it was so difficult for him to let go of Cerise, which was completely understandable with all the things he went through while growing up. I liked Jesse, but there were a few instances in which I wanted to slap him a bit so he could see that Ian couldn't let go of Cerise as easily as changing a shirt. The chemistry between Ian and Jesse was electrifying and I loved them together. The progression felt very natural and organic, even with the misunderstandings along the way. They both were a bit immature, but I loved that they were willing to compromise and work on their issues together.
I loved that Kai was there for his mods when they needed him. And I really loved Beau, so I hope (please, please, please, Megan and Santino) that there'll be more of him in the future, especially if it's with TrashyZane. *begs*
All in all, this was a fantastic installment in the series and a confirmation that Ms. Erickson and Mr. Hassell make one hell of a writing team. Their collaboration is seamless and it took me through a rollercoaster of emotions ranging from despair to awe and everything in between. Definitely a book I'll read again!

Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family, but he was anything but traditional. He grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, then a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into an unlikely romance author. Santino writes queer romance that is heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, his belief that human relationships are complex and flawed, and his own life experiences.
