Title: Take A Chance
Series: Second Chance Series #1
Author: Megs Pritchard
Genre: M/M Romance
Kicked out at fifteen for being gay, Tom survived by selling his body on the streets. Four years later, Tom, now nineteen, doesn’t know how long he can continue living this life.
One night while out working, Tom sees a face from his past, one he had long forgotten. One he had used to fantasise about.
Afraid of the reaction he will receive, Tom runs away hoping never to see him again. But Seb had other ideas.
At twenty-five, Seb’s life is going exactly the way he had wanted. Having worked hard at University, Seb has been offered a permanent contract at a local solicitor.
While driving to a friend’s house to celebrate, Seb is shocked to find Tom, someone he hasn’t seen in years, on the streets, selling himself.
Feeling an overwhelming need to help Tom, Seb tracks him down and offers him a way out.
Tom lay listening to the sounds of the house, but he couldn't hear Seb moving around, so assumed he was still in bed until he heard a knock on his door."Yeah," he called through the closed door, smiling to himself. The door opened, and Seb stuck his head in and smiled at him. "Can I come in?"Tom nodded and patted the bed as Seb walked over to him, carrying two mugs. He put them on the bedside cabinet before he pulled the covers up and slid into bed next to him."Did you sleep alright?"Tom nodded again. "Yeah. I did.""I've been awake for a while, wondering if I should come in and see if you were awake." Seb gave him a small smile.Tom rolled onto his side, facing Seb and smiled at him. Seb copied the action, and they lay facing each other. Seb reached over and touched his face with his fingers before leaning over him and kissing him on his lips.Tom pulled away, making a face. "Morning breath."Seb smiled, sat up and reached over to pass Tom the mug. He drank some tea before handing it back. He'd wanted to wake up next to Seb, but was glad in a way that he hadn't. He liked the fact that Seb didn't want to rush anything, but he was worried the reason was that he was a whore. He'd probably had more sex with strangers than he'd had hot meals.Seb smiled at him and leaned over to kiss him again, pulling him close and wrapping an arm around his waist and pushing his leg in between Tom's.Tom opened his mouth and felt Seb's tongue touch his. He moaned softly at the contact and moved his hips towards Seb's, feeling Seb's erection rub against his own. They both only had boxers on, and Tom wanted to push his hand into Seb's, so he could touch him and make him come.
Seb rolled on top of him and continued to kiss him, rubbing their dicks together. He groaned as he continued to rub against Seb. It wouldn't be long until he came if they carried on. Then he felt Seb's hand stroking him through his boxers, and he groaned again. "God yes, please touch me."
After being forced to come out to his parents at the age of 15, Tom is thrown out and disowned. He's spent the last few years working the streets to try to survive and he's barely managing. Living in an abandoned house with no electricity along with four other rentboys isn't easy, but they do what they have to to get by. Out one night, he runs into someone from his past, his ex-best friend's older brother, Seb. When he sees Seb, he takes off.
Seb is bi, but in the closet where his family is concerned. After he runs into Tom on the street, he can't get him out of his head. He always had a bit of a crush on Tom when they were younger, but assumed he was straight. Will they get a second chance or is it too late and is Tom too damaged?
I love second chance romances. Anyone who reads my reviews probably knows this is one of my favorite tropes. This was a pleasurable read. It had some mystery and suspense to go along with the sweetness and romance. Tom and Seb were both likable characters and they were hot together, but they were missing the chemistry you look for in a romance. There wasn't a lot of spark between them.
The storyline was intriguing and I loved getting to know Tom's roommates and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in the future, I'm especially curious about Ben. The other secondary characters of Seb's family, both his parents and his brother, Josh, were just utter bigoted douchebags that I wanted to hit in the head with a hammer!! Grrr..
All in all, this was an enjoyable read and a nice start to this series. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Ben, Matt and Luke, as well as hoping to get some glimpses of Tom and Seb. Recommendable!
