Title: Past the Breakers

Release Date: May 15, 2017
Category: Paranormal: Ghosts/Spirits
Pages: 220

Casey North lost everything when his restaurant burned to the ground: his hopes, his dreams, his reason for living. With nothing tying him to LA, he packs up and moves back to his hometown of Land’s End. He takes up residence in a beach house and attempts to shake the depression he’s fallen into after his life collapsed. There’s just one tiny problem: the ghost haunting his kitchen.
Myles Taylor wasn’t always trapped in the Between. One minute, he was about to propose to his boyfriend of five years as they sat out on their surfboards, and the next, he woke up on the beach to find his long-dead uncle walking toward him. After his shock fades, he must learn to navigate his new reality as he searches for a way to move into the Great Beyond. But first he must deal with the man who’s invaded his territory.
With Myles tied to the beach house and Casey unwilling to leave it, the two must learn to cohabitate as the lines separating them begin to blur. They grow closer than either expected, but what will become of them once Myles finally escapes the Between?

5 Stars

After a fire causes Casey to not only lose his restaurant and his self-confidence, his girlfriend tells him he's boring and leaves him as well. Casey is left heartbroken and feeling dejected, so he rents a beach house near his sister in Land's End, the tiny beach-town he grew up in. He never expected to have to share his rental house with Myles, a surfer who recently drowned and is stuck in the between. Myles is not happy about being dead, but he's really unhappy when the frumpy stranger moves into his house and starts sleeping in his bed. Can Myles learn to be a haunting ghost and scare Casey off or will Casey stand up to Myles and tell him to take a hike?

This was such an adorable story. I loved both Casey and Myles. I loved watching them learn to communicate and live together in harmony. Their progress from enemies to friends and later to falling in love with one another happened so naturally. Casey and Myles had amazing chemistry and I connected with them so well. The sexual tension was palpable and the sexy times were sweet and passionate. The love these two men shared came off the pages at you.

While the story was heartbreaking at times, it was also sweet, funny and filled with love. It's a unique storyline that was well-written and paced well and I highly recommend it!!

5 Stars!!!

One word comes to mind when thinking about Casey and Myles: Adorable! They were both so sweet and lovable and had amazing chemistry! I just adored the progression of their relationship, they just clicked.

I loved the secondary storyline with the Myles' mystery of how and why he was trapped in the Between. I have to say that I saw a movie that has a similar theme, so I had a clue of what might happen, but it still took me by surprise in certain scenes.

This was a very unique, fresh, funny take on a ghost paranormal story. The main characters were absolutely lovable and the plot was intriguing. This is a book you definitely need to experience for yourself so I'm not saying much other than go one-click, you won't regret it!

  1. I'm not usually fond of ghost story, but one of the paranormal story with ghost that I like is Josh Lanyon's The Haunted Heart series, Winter. The first time reading it the story creeped the heck outta me! XD

  2. Duncan Andrews series by Stephen Osborne. His love interest is a ghost. I love that series SO MUCH.

  3. A Frost of Cares by Amy Rae Durreson is one of my favs.

  4. My favorite paranormal story that featured ghosts "The ghost on my Couch" by L A Gilbert and Ally Blue's "Bay City Paranormal Investigation Series"

  5. I haven't read any paranormal stories featuring ghosts as of yet

  6. I can't think of any from the top of my head. Winter Oranges by Marie Sexton is close but it's not quite a ghost story.

  7. I've not read too many but ones I've enjoyed are: Falling Through
by Ofelia Gränd, Psycop series by Jordan Castillo Price, A Hundred Lonely Halloweens by Ari McKay, Touch of a Ghost by L.M. Brown, A Part of Me
by Iyana Jenna, The Spirit Within by Marcy Jacks, and He Speaks Dead by Adrienne Wilder.

  8. Thanks for the review. This sounds great. I agree a good paranormal\ghost series is PsyCop, A good YA one is The Ghost of Bruxton Manor. - Purple Reader,
