Virtual Tour ~ Oversight by Santino Hassell ~ (Review + Giveaway)

About Oversight

Holden Payne has it all . . . or so he thinks. As heir to the founder of the Community—an organization that finds, protects, and manages psychics—he’s rich, powerful, and treated like royalty. But after a series of disappearances and murders rock the Community, he’s branded the fall guy for the scandal and saddled with a babysitter.

Sixtus Rossi is a broad-shouldered, tattooed lumbersexual with a man bun and a steely gaze. He’s also an invulnerable—supposedly impervious to both psychic abilities and Holden’s charms. It’s a claim Holden takes as a challenge. Especially if sleeping with Six may help him learn whether the Community had more to do with the disappearances than they claimed.

As Holden uncovers the truth, he also finds himself getting in deep with the man sent to watch him. His plan to seduce Six for information leads to a connection so intense that some of Six’s shields come crashing down. And with that comes a frightening realization: Holden has to either stand by the Community that has given him everything, or abandon his old life to protect the people he loves.

About The Community Series

What lies beneath the surface of the world you thought you knew?

Secrets and lies have twisted an underground community founded by psychics escaping persecution. Blackmail, sex, and social climbing in the name of power has created an irreparable rift.

In the eyes of the founders, there are two sides: loyalists and everyone else. Surely no one would emerge from their tightly woven webs. And they certainly wouldn’t sow the seeds of rebellion within the heart of the Community’s only queer night club.

Now an outcast, a scion, and a runaway are leading a revolution to save not only the men they love, but the entire Community.

5 Stars

This is book two in the Community series by Santino Hassell and the books should be read in order. Although each book's focus is on a different couple, there is an ongoing background story/mystery that is continued throughout the series.

Holden Payne is the son of Richard Payne, the leader of the community. His father sends Sixtus, a new bodyguard, to watch over Holden, much to Holden's displeasure. Six is cold and stoic and this frustrates Holden to no end.

This is going to be a short review, because I don't want to give away any spoilers. I loved book one and I adored Nate and Trent. I've been really looking forward to this release, but when I first picked it up, I wasn't sure what to think. I've had books where I didn't care for one of the main characters, but truthfully I didn't care for either Holden or Six.

Holden is a spoiled brat. He's always had daddy's money to fall back on. He owns an exclusive gay night club and is kind of a manwhore. Six is, as I said earlier, stoic, serious, unfriendly and with no sense of humor. Frankly, he has about as much personality as a wet mop.

It took time for me to warm up to these characters, but once they finally embrace the attraction and give into it and explore what they are feeling for each other, they open up and become much more likable. The story is well-written, fast-paced and action-packed. I love the ongoing mystery and suspense. It had some fantastic twists and turns that kept me riveted and turning the pages. Of course, I adored getting to revisit some of the secondary characters and I absolutely loved the glimpses of Nate and Trent. This was an enjoyable read and I'll be waiting not so patiently for the next installment! Very recommendable!
