Blog Tour: La Famiglia by Deanna Wadsworth (Reviews)

Title: La Famiglia
Series: A Men of Gilead Novel
Author: Deanna Wadsworth
Genre: M/M Romance Novel (standalone)
Release Date: January 23, 2018

Forrester Giordano comes from a huge, nosy Italian family, and with their homophobic jokes and slurs, he’s decided to stay in the closet. He finds respite in his bookstore in the quaint village of Gilead—where he has a huge crush on one of his customers, Kyle Benson.

Kyle is determined to live his dreams, and though life isn’t easy being deaf, one by one he’s making them come true. He’s scored a great job practicing law, bought a cute bungalow where he can finally have a big flower garden, and he has a dog he loves, Jasper. Now he just needs one thing to complete his happiness: a family of his own to make up for the one he never had.

Forrester and Kyle’s relationship starts off hot and heavy, and neither man can deny the depth of their connection. When Forrester’s little brother gets mixed up with their heroin-dealing cousin and his mother falls ill, Forrester has a decision to make—maybe the hardest of his life. For the first time, he’s found a man worth coming out for.

Unfortunately nothing ever goes according to plan with la famiglia.

“This is an amazing story in a series that just shines” - A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words “Relatable and Real” - Amazon Review “The best in the far!” - Amazon Review

4 Stars!

Mari: La Famiglia is book 3 in the Men of Gilead series and it can be read as a standalone, however, the previous books are really good, too, so you might want to check them out.

Tracy: I had no clue it was book three in the series and I never once felt lost, so yes, it can definitely be read as a standalone.

Mari: Forrester Giordano (Frankie to his family) is one of 4 brothers in one big Italian family, he owns a bookstore and is out to his friends and closeted with his family, mostly because he's never had a reason to risk coming out to them. He's pretty certain his mother and Nonna will still love him, but he isn't as sure about his brothers. When he finally starts dating Kyle, one of his customers, he realizes the time to keep hiding might have come to an end.

Kyle is a deaf lawyer working for the DA office in Gilead. He's pretty much on his own with his adorable dog Jasper, since all his family is dead and longs to have a family. He's been attracted to Forrester pretty much from the moment they met and when they finally go out, they hit it off. However, Kyle is out and Forrester isn't, could that put a stop to their growing relationship?

I adored Kyle, he's such a sweet, kind man. He went through a traumatic event in his past with an ex, but he's upfront about it and I just loved that he was willing to work through it to be with Forrester. He had the patience of a saint, really, since Forrester issues with his family and the way he acted sometimes made me want to slap him, lol, whereas Kyle just would be the sweet, supportive boyfriend.

Tracy: I agree, Mari, I loved Kyle too. He was so sweet and I loved his patience and that he never rushed Forrester to come out. He was supportive of him and willing to give him the time he needed until he worked up the courage to come out.

Mari: I liked Forrester a lot, but he was a bit of a drama queen. Actually, it was kind of funny because the Giordano men seemed to be very prone to drama, which seems very in tune with what I know of Italian men. Still, I really liked him with Kyle, they had great chemistry together, even if it was obvious Kyle was the more mature of the two of them. The sex was hot and passionate and I enjoyed how well they fit together and made their little family along with Jasper, who was such an adorable addition to the story.

Tracy: I’m torn with how I feel about Forrester. I really liked him, but I got irritated that he was in the closet, yet, listening to the homophobic slurs that were thrown around by his brothers, well, I can completely understand his fear about coming out. But rather in or out of the closet, as Mari said, they had amazing chemistry and I absolutely loved them together.

Mari: Regarding the secondary characters, I loved Nonna, who was more perceptive than they gave her credit for being, Forrester's mom, Forrester's friends and his brothers Joey and Tony and his sister in law Amanda. It took me a while to warm up to Dino, mostly because I wasn't sure which of the two, him or Forrester was more stubborn.

Tracy: It took me time to warm up to Forrester’s family, especially his brothers. As close as they were, their insults were hard to listen to and at times I wanted to punch them, especially Dino. My favorite secondary character was definitely Forrester’s Nonna and I also absolutely loved Kyle’s dog, Jasper. He was so adorable.

Mari: Overall, I think this was my favorite of the series so far. It was fun, sweet, hot and angsty and I cried in some parts, so be warned that you might need some tissues. Some parts dragged a bit and maybe there was too much going on at times, but other than that, it was a great read that I recommend!

Tracy: I really enjoyed this story. It was well-written, if a little long, but still a sweet, sexy and fun read and I’ll definitely have to go back and check out the first two books. Very recommendable!
