Series Tour: Day One: One Ride (The Hellions Ride Book One) by Chelsea Camaron (Teasers, Review)

Day One: One Ride
Series: The Hellions Ride
Author: Chelsea Camaron
Genre: MC Romance
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling

Delilah “Doll” Reklinger never imagined her life with anyone that wasn’t a Hellion. She never imagined there would be a Hellion that could prove himself worthy enough to her father, Roundman, Hellions Club President. Content in living in the bubble of safety the motorcycle club family has always provided, Doll never thought that danger surrounded her.

Roundman has kept the Hellions contained for the last thirty years by controlling the chaos surrounding their lifestyle. When the dangerous side to their business comes knocking on his door, he realizes his precious Doll isn’t safe. The Hellions code may be that women and children are off limits in any altercation or dispute, but that doesn’t mean their enemies follow that same moral compass.

His only child, now in danger from the association to him and his club, Roundman makes a decision. He sends her away with a charter club member that he trusts, in hopes that the trouble won’t follow.

One ride across the country. One simple ride. Talon “Tripp” Crews has been ordered to take Doll on one ride away and to keep her safe. She’s off limits. His head knows this, but his body can’t deny the attraction. She’s feisty, fierce, and fearless.

Constantly in close confines together, can they deny the chemistry? Will they give into the desire? Can one ride turn lust into love?

Delilah aka Doll isn't just another Hellion Club Princess, she's the Hellions Club Princess. As beloved daughter of the Mother Chapter's President, she is pretty much depending on marrying a Hellion and having tiny little Hellions running around the club. However, she knows whoever that man will be, he'll first need to make it past her father. When trouble finds Doll and shatters that illusion of safety she's come to depend on, she realizes the lifestyle she's lived her whole life is not all fun and games. Sent away with her best friend Sass, she has to depend on the one man who has her tied up in knots: Talon aka Tripp. Tripp is tasked to keep Doll safe by taking her on a cross-country ride together with his cousin and club brother Rex. Tripp know's Doll is off limits, not to mention that she deserves someone a lot better than him. But as much as he tells himself it would be a bad idea to sleep with her, he can't seem to stop himself. With stakes this high, Tripp will have to make the decision to listen to his head, his heart or his libido. First, let me start by saying what I disliked about this story because truth be told, I just want to get it out of the way. I absolutely can't stand this theme that so many contemporary romance books have in which one of the MC's spends half the book flipping back and forth between not being able to live without sleeping with the other and telling them they can't be together. That they aren't built for love or monogamy or whatever other bullshit excuse they have. Then the other MC instead of saying screw it all and walking away, sits there pining for the other person and runs back to them the minute the person snaps their fingers. Listen, boys and girls, have some self-respect. If someone tells you it was a mistake sleeping with you and that you are through, f*#% them! Don't sit around and pine over them. Don't watch them have sex with someone else in front of you (a club whore in this case). And for everything that's holy do not allow them to sleep with you without a condom (especially if he's a biker). Just because a man tells you he's clean and never goes bare doesn't mean he's telling you the truth (how do you know he doesn't say that to every woman?). With all that said, I'll now talk about what I did like. Simply said I like the fact that Doll is more real, she's not overly perfect and she's not some caricature of a "bad ass biker babe". She can be tough but vulnerable and she isn't just one of the guys. I liked that a lot. I wished she would've been stronger when it came to Tripp but I won't dwell on that. Tripp may have been hot but I hate to say it, he was a jerk. Yes, he's a biker so he gets a small pass but after a while, biker or not, I would have kicked him in his shins. He does have his redeeming points, though. He was really good at protecting Doll and it was clear he'd do anything to keep her safe. So if he could put as much energy into being loyal to her as he does protecting her, he'll be golden. The story itself was entertaining and kept me turning the pages. It wasn't as dark and gritty as some biker books but it was certainly better than a lot of them out there. Chelsea Camaron is a great writer and I am a fan of many of her books. While this may not be my favorite MC book of all time, I'd definitely recommend it. 3.5 Stars!
